My buddy uses OpenWrt to blackhole everything. He hijacks every smart device connection this way to hook them into a Home Assistant service he runs so that everything still works. He setup routing rules in the custom router to ensure nothing leaks out. He then ensured all devices Wireguard into the network so they get the same protections while abroad.
