I think teachers should teach reading, writing, arithmetic, history, grammar, art, literature, and all the cultural programming should be other people's business. I was going to add civics and science but those two things are currently on probation because I thought we didn't allow religion in state schools. And it seems that civics and science have been coopted by religious extremism masquerading as STEM ;)
