20 months ago, I attempted to log on to the CRA portal and change our corporate head office address. To my surprise, CRA has removed me as a Director of my own corporation, and as such, I am unable to advocate on my own behalf, to have myself reinstated.

The other Director of the corporation tried to log on through her portal, and again, she has been removed as a Director of the corporation, and unable to advocate on her own behalf, to have herself reinstated.

Fast forward to the beginning of the year, the accounting firm that we employ who thankfully are still authorized agents of the corporation, have only managed to confirm that, somehow, the spelling of the other director’s name has been changed on the CRA system. CRA will not grant them authorization to fix the spelling of my business partner’s name, or add me back, despite providing every piece of supporting documentation requested, including articles of incorporation, notarized Affidavits, bank statements, and the most up-to-date corporate profile report for Ontario.

I just want to update our corporate head office address!!! 20 years of collecting tax, paying corporate tax, and not a single person in this agency can has even been helpful enough to even make a suggestion for a fix or next steps.

Through our MP, we are now working with the tax ombudsman, to see if we can achieve some type of resolution. If not, we are going to have to take CRA to court, spending thousands more to change a frickin’ address.

All that is to say: vent as much as you like. I totally understand your frustration!

I brother went though a whole thing very similar to your situation. Essentially he had to close down the business and start it under a new name in the end.

I find bureaucracy is a killer. And zero "customer" service too.
