Won’t they just make using BTC illegal in a similar fashion?

Isn’t the only way out …. Move to a country that adopts BTC?

Having a Bitcoin wallet = Storing some data

Sending a Bitcoin transaction = Sending some data

To make using BTC illegal would require making illegal these broad actions, so yeah, good luck with that
