Why would one want to feel this tho
I suppose the part of the human brain which is there to protect us, is permanently searching for possible threats. So, this important part of our survival is getting activated when it sees something dangerous. I think this is the reason why humans are somewhat drawn to these kind of negative stories. In other words: we can't help ourselves, "it's the biology, stupid".
