David Lynch is one of my all time favorite director, maybe after Stanley Kubrik.

The depth and brilliance of the Twin Peaks series is legend status alone imo, but some other highlights are:

- Mulholland Drive, just a masterpiece of layered storytelling and symbolism in film. Set in the esoteric, occult and conspiracy-filled world of Hollywood.

- The Straight Story, the polar opposite of most all of his other work where there is always something more (usually dark, weird, or slightly absurd) going on, 'the straight story' is just a heartwarming feelgood movie about the bond between two brothers.

May he rest in peace.

"The more unknowable the mystery, the more beautiful it is." - David Lynch

Same. His first, "Eraserhead" has stuck with me forever. No dialogue. Black and White. Brilliant.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit I haven't seen it despite having talked about seeing it many times 😐

I should watch it this weekend 🤝

Ah...no big deal, it's almost work to watch it, I can't explain it but you get captivated. It's WEIRD, as in Yellow weird.

Correction it does have dialogue...just not much, no explaining what is happening, visions do the talking. True David Lynch and Bitcoin. You can't explain it.

I meant to add Wes Anderson to the list.

I checked his profile and I had not seen many of his films, I liked 'budapest hotel'.

But Moonrise Kingdom looked interesting, is it good?

Moonrise Kingdom is great but my wife hated it. You know how you watch some films that win all sorts of awards by Mainstream Media and sometimes it seems they just give accolades to films that really suck. Like a lot of art but it makes the person reviewing it feel superior to others in their intellect?

Yeah, that's not David Lynch films, but they are like art. And his art isn't for everyone.

Awards have gotten pretty meaningless yeah, especially after hollywood went woke.

You need some taste for David Lynch 🤙

For whatever reason, I have never liked Jerry Seinfeld. I think it is his voice? But this turned me, it is so beyond brilliant. He gave this speech as he accepted a Netflix award. It is brilliant and totally aligns with what you just posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ityRn2IA24A

HBO, doesn't matter but it was an HBO not Netflix award. Hilarious.
