Yes, that is correct, and also to prop up their economies.

Australia is in per capita recession but bought in a shitload of immigrants which masks the overall numbers and avoids the headlines. Some added benefits for Gov:

- puts demand side pressure on housing which is basically the whole economy in these Ponzi states so it keeps house prices inflated

- puts supply side pressure on wages which they stupidly believe slows inflation but really just fucks the citizens even harder

- provides cheap labour for their friends in business

- can flood areas of the labour market where the people would traditionally support their political opponents

It’s definitely an element of long-term trying to prop up their tax base but a lot of short term cynical bullshit thrown in.

In Aus does it seem a bit more controlled? Those numbers and images from certain European countries and USA now seem kinda biblical and definitely look like chaos and way out of control.

Nah immigration has not been controlled at all. The ruling party (Labor) just announced “major changes” because everyone has been up in arms all year after they went beserk importing people; we’re at 0.9% rental vacancies in Aus which on top of inflation has caused a rental crisis, we’ve got tent cities popping up now - a country with 3 people per square kilometre and we don’t have enough housing 🤦‍♂️
