🤚 creator here, fwiw, I've had a good experience so far (since mid June). Albeit I entered this space with zero expectations and aware of its infancy.
I've uploaded original music (wavlake), streamed (zap stream), made blog posts (habla), posted a variety of (non-bitcoin/nostr) notes, shared photos & memes, and jumped in on a handful of nests.
I've zapped and been zapped. Which, for now, I gather, is the point: it works. But early adopters/pioneers need to understand that laying down the road is not the same as getting to drive on it.
Presumably, different stages of development are going to attract different waves of developers, investors, users, and so forth. Those that dipped may find a reason to return later. Maybe not.
As someone who entered this space as a complete pleb, I'll say that nostr's qualities are subtle. The problems it solves haven't caught up to solutions it offers. On top of that, at first glance, it doesn't appear to do anything new. It's a tough sell.
