Aha, well the reason we regard it so highly is because it is a milestone in human history. Never ever before did we have a man-made issuance of a totally neutral and secure money, where we trust the network to do it right. Gold was phased out as daily transaction unit a long, long time ago, after which there was no other asset that could provide the properties that gold stood for. Until bitcoin was invented.
