As an old, it still blows my mind that somewhere in the 2010s people collectively agreed to pay for subscriptions forever and ever rather than just pay for something once to own it forever

you can only truly own bitcoin, subscriptions are like a configuration of where your money will flow out to

as long as you make more than you spend it’s fine

I still own my MP3s and records and dvds from 20 years ago and use them. Even if you want to stream that stuff you can digitize and set up a home server pretty easily.

I am sure subscription model was not invented by end consumers, it worked well for the group who did.

I currently have subscriptions to Grok, OpenAI and Claude and it feelsbadman

Lol— I’m not super familiar with those pay models, but paying for machine time makes sense imo if the cost of buying that infrastructure is out of reach for sure
