Think of it this way, it never looks like a hero, but it is compared to the alternative. Yeah, they still hate you. But you’re not dead. So you still get another chance.

I fortunately didn’t have to overcome addiction. Brother, friends, etc different story. I just don’t think putting your addiction to the side makes you a hero. Drug addiction has a lot of selfless/and self ish acts involved. I don’t hate anyone, too much energy to harbor that type of feelings. But I don’t feel sorry, nor feel like giving any kudos for being sober when it all boils down to choice in some way/shape or form. Still love the message/intentions of your post, regardless of my own view obvi ✌️🤷♂️🫶
