it’s usually just slow relays under heavy load. Could also be relay operators deleting events🤷‍♂️

That’s what I wondered, if relays are deleting them. Makes them fairly useless if that’s the case.

No not really. You could have relays that facilitates “one week of data” and then deletes it. That would make it possible to facilitate short term conversations. If you want a Twitter like experience however, you’d need to find reliable relays to connect to or host your own

Needs to be consistent or it’s a useless metric for post engagement.

Interesting to think about relays taking on different policies for private, public, ephemeral, and “permanent” conversations. And the associated pricing of them.

Yeah, that part of nostr is pretty unexplored IMO
