Dear LGBTQ Movement,
As a heterosexual citizen, I have been following recent developments in parts of your movement with concern. Slogans like "We're here, we're queer, we're coming for your children" worry and alienate me deeply.
From my perspective as a heterosexual citizen, the following facts are indisputable:
- The overwhelming majority of people are heterosexual. This is also, from an evolutionary point of view, the biological "normal state" of our species.
- Provocations and confrontations, such as those sought by radical splinter groups, usually only lead to counter-reactions and tendencies to persist.
- In recent decades, as a tolerant and enlightened society, we have made great strides in accepting sexual diversity. I see these achievements in danger from radical currents.
- The majority of LGBTQ people are reasonable and moderate fellow citizens. A loud minority should not shape the image of the entire movement.
I therefore appeal to reason on all sides: Let's return to a factual dialogue that is not characterized by prejudice or radicalization. The future of our society depends on our ability to live together peacefully. I am ready to do my part and hope for your willingness to reach a consensus.
