TikTok was fined a record $600 million by the European Union for transmitting user data to China without the necessary security.

On May 1, 2025, the Irish Data Protection Commission imposed the fine in accordance with EU GDPR regulations.

The necessary security was for the public to not find out. But we did even though we already knew china was doing this. Now that it's been verified people probably still won't care & use it.
