I think if you’re already a developer, then Windows is excellent, but myself I spent years trying to get a dev environment set up in my free time, and I would always get hung up. The barriers to entry on macOS are lower imo, with the Linux style terminal being built in. Also, there is rudimentary but powerful “programming” on iPhone with the Shortcuts app.

I found the combination of the two able to greatly accelerate my technical skills in a short time.

If you ever desire to try developing on Windows again, give me a holler! I no joke use Visual Studio 2023 for Linux programming too!

They’ve fully integrated with WSL2 and even my C++/Qt apps are great to debug in VS.

Right on, thank you for the offer! I remember installing WSL1 and I was so afraid I was going to mess up the installation. 🤣🤣 I’ve heard WSL2 is really awesome

It’s seriously good. Some purist will try to nay say it, but you get full Linux including gui completely seamless on Windows, including file system access in explorer. It’s a great tool when you don’t want to reboot.
