Goodness is in people, not religion. If a moral or personal rule is not evident to a person then either the rule is wrong, or the person does not understand the rule. And if someone doesn't understand a rule then they cannot properly follow it.

Talking about what is right and wrong and trying to understand disagreements is more important than trying to follow some particular set of religious tenants.
