In a similar vein, that's where one feels acutely aware that he is not in control of his money. I sent a wire recently, and it felt like I was getting the 3rd degree for sending my own money from one US institution to another. "Why are you sending it? Why now and not before? What is the purpose? etc etc." Sheesh.
