If it was a bad design it wouldn't have worked so much better than any other design before or since.
It didn't work better if it did then other sites would have done it but no site after reddit did it because they all know voting up & down is a waste of time & only encourages grievance. To each their own opinion.

Digg is an example of an "other site" that also used the same design. They stopped doing it for the same reason reddit did - because it worked too well and they are centralized platforms so they do what the money printers want, with no regard for what users want.

Even if I looked at digg you got one site compared to what came out after /r twas twitter/x, instagram, mastodon, misskey/calckey/firefish, spacehey, blusky, & etc none of them used it because the whole feature is stupid & pointless.

3: As for the part I did read, did I fucking ask you if reddit stopped the up & downvotes? The measures they took mainly included changing the score calculations to be more biased and less directly based on the numbers of upvotes and downvotes; removing the free speech policy which allowed a level playing field of democratic voting by all people; and removing the freedom for everyone to start their own subreddit, making subreddit management more centralized (as they had the power to do because it was operating on a centralized server system in the first place).
4: Here are your choices for how to proceed -
A. Go use Cunningham's Law on other people in the time you still have
B. Talk to me more respectfully in the time you still have
C. Die more slowly and painfully when I find you
