First season is amazing, one of my favorite animes. Also a complete and well done story in and of itself. Second season actively ruins the universe. When I rewatched the series I stopped at the first season cus I didn't want to remember how bad the second was. I've rewatched the CGI berserks so that should tell you something about my tolerance for shitty anime.

The third season is so bad I couldn't make it through more than two episodes, and it is probably the gayest, most irredeemable anime I have ever seen.
