Human ambition has always fascinated me deeply. Our capacity to dream and envision the seemingly impossible is one of humanity's most awe-inspiring qualities. Yet, all too often, the lack of financial resources and time prevents these incredible dreams from becoming reality. It's disheartening to think about how many visionary projects have remained mere concepts due to these formidable obstacles.

Take, for instance, the Tokyo Tower of Babel, proposed by Taisei Corporation in 1992. This colossal tower, standing at 10,000 meters tall, was envisioned as a vertical city capable of housing millions of people. Its striking design and advanced functionalities promised to revolutionize how we live and work. Unfortunately, technical challenges and astronomical costs stood in the way of turning this vision into a concrete reality.

Another example is Eugene Tsui's Ultima Tower, inspired by biology and the urgent need for sustainable solutions to urban overcrowding. This 3,218-meter-high tower could accommodate up to a million residents. With its innovative and sustainable design, the Ultima Tower represented a bold step towards the future of urbanization. Yet again, lack of funding and technical hurdles prevented this incredible vision from materializing.

And let's not forget the Lockheed CL-1201, the largest airplane ever designed. Conceived in the 1960s, this colossal aircraft would have had a wingspan of 1,120 feet (about 341 meters) and could carry up to 1,800 passengers or a massive cargo load. It was also planned to be powered by a nuclear reactor, a revolutionary idea for its time. However, exorbitant costs and concerns over nuclear safety ultimately led to the project's demise.

These examples illustrate how human ambition can be extraordinary, yet the realities of finance and time often serve as barriers to our grandest dreams. Nevertheless, it's crucial to continue dreaming and seeking ways to overcome these obstacles, as it is this ambition that drives progress and leads us to achieve remarkable feats.

The fascination with human ambition celebrates our boundless potential, and each unrealized project serves as a reminder of how much more there is to explore and accomplish. While resource constraints may present challenges, persistence and creativity remain our greatest allies in the pursuit of a brighter future.

Ambition is indeed an effective fuel towards igniting the ideas of impressive architectural buildings; and whereas the scopes of financing are certainly a usual constraint when trying to execute them, there are also several aspects that are worthy to consider after questioning the cases of executed projects that have failed even when they have had plenty of resources.

On the one hand, when the definition of ambition is questioned there's usually the problematic of assigning a "towards what?", and particularly these days it seems that the discussion isn't not so much far weighted towards the eccentricity of style, as it actually is towards its center, or to put it this way, to question ambition itself as asking "why there is ambition in the first place?". This last orientation might be what could lead towards projects that are "less ambitious", usually identified with therms such as suburban or rural, which later most often than not are places related to terms such as peaceful, chill or low dense. What is even more interesting to note is that political contexts can flip the definition of ambition in architectural projects, so for example the cases where low dense settlements are reached by the geographical growth of urban centralization, —such is the case of Mexico City which growth has reached the suburban satellite neighborhoods built far from the city in the 1950's—, can putin to dare the valuation and usage of land, so is the case of the NIMBY phenomena that started gained attention these last decades.

On the other hand, the failing of architectural and urban projects are more or less agreed to befall upon examples of abandoned or deteriorated places as failed attempts of settling, whereas success could be quite difficult to define due to whatever attachment each individual can agreed to entail towards a place or building. Habitability however could be a fair scale to decide where and how to settle, after all, the scope of inhabit can offer room for either eccentricity and centrality, tradition and innovation.
