If censorship continues Nostr will grow... eg Brazil recently.

If you use Nostr in a KYC manner you are effectively shooting yourself in the foot.

You are moving from one control regime to another because your safe haven in Nostr will also be tied to your identity.

Be aware that slick clients like #primal are VC backed and they represent imo the new or future control regime. They have a slick UI cos they have VC funds but those backers are likely part of the future control regime.

To avoid this use community funded clients like Nostr and Damus. They are more frustrating to use because they are less slick, they are less slick because the devs really on community funds which are less.

Imo we need to take the frustration of community built clients in order to avoid KYC and support non VC backed clients.

I tried using the primal app, but once I saw they required an email account and --- unless I'm misremembering --- KYC to use their built in wallet I backed off immediately to another client app.

It didn’t aske me for any email to use it. As for the wallet every lightning wallet I downloaded asked for an email.

The primal app itself didn't, the wallet within it did.

VC backed firms will need to compete and don't control your data. It's fairly trivial to jump to another client and I think this removes a lot of the problems found on other platforms.

I think all products and businesses add to the Nostr ecosystem, including those that are VC backed.

I think the real issue with that is that development is centralized on a single entity that can be easily identified and, therefore, pressure, persecuted and attacked by a govt goons.
