You're a few versions ahead of me! Thanks for the heads-up, though
I’m on ubuntu, I suspect it’s the Canonical version of the kernel that’s causing the issues rather than a Linux-wide problem.
the whole 6 series has been a bag of dicks... i have found about maybe 3 versions out of the 50+ that actually run an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT video card
the fucking open source driver
surely you'd think they'd backport latest versions of unencumbered driver code to new versions
i suspect nvidia and intel of sabotaging things for their competitor
Linux iox 6.2.0-39-generic #40~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Nov 16 10:53:04 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
this version works perfectly for that video card and is what comes as the boot kernel of the Zorin OS current version
however, it installs the metapackage, and if you let it update, you will get a black screen, so install it offline and then remove the metapackage - ends in -generic
i'm starting to really hate linux kernels, like, super bad, and ubuntu fucks em up even harder with their metapackage distributions
i don't think it's debian doing this btw, it's shuttlefuck and his cuntonical incorporated
