An Ukrainian colleague of mine reached out to me, asking how this «crypto-thing» works. She has sold her father’s apartment in Kiev, and the only way to get the money out of the country is to travel there (several times) and bring home the settlement (USD) in cash. The banking system is broken, they can’t be trusted.

After a quick chat, she now has downloaded a bitcoin wallet on her phone. Dollars will be exchanged to bitcoin locally in Kiev, and transferred to her in Norway.
