This is my exoerience too . The Norwegians are similar.

I was in an Irish bar in Norway with my wife and child , clearly a grown ass man , and they wouldnt let me have a Guinness because I didn't have ID. In a fucking Irish bar, as an Irishman.

We were the only ones in there apart from some guy reading a newspaper.

She said "Sorry, rules are rules."

I left a big shit for her to flush before leaving .

it's the fallacy of the beard. if she lets you drink without ID then some other guy less obviously adult will try it as well and then an even younger guy and so on - at what point does she say no you're obviously not an adult ! and if she does the guy will want to fight. only thing she can do is ask everyone for an ID including 80 year old grandpas - it seems stupid but really YOU'RE THE FUCKING IDIOT FOR NOT HAVING AN ID

not having an ID proves that in fact you are a child and shouldn't be drinking

as does your leaving a shit to make a "point"

I obviously had ID travelling in a foreign land: my passport.

I prefered to leave it safe in the hotel, as I have never been asked for ID for drink in my life , even when I was below the legal drinking age.

The right path to take would have been to give the obviously adult Irishman a drink.

Given that everyone in Norway is a compulsive rule-follower and the bar was empty, I dont think the beard thing makes sense.

Also , asking granpas for ID , the fuck are you on about you lunatic?
