In my opinion that goes completely against the ethos of Bitcoin, which is that incentives of the network itself should promote its flourishing, not the reliance on outside structures such as the legal system.

On reflection I completely agree with you on this. I’m just frustrated watching the community bifurcating over the reaction to spam.

A better reaction would be to actually start using bitcoin as money, thereby pricing out the spammers.

Absolutely agree! which is why I just sent $14 to a neighbor for 2 dozen eggs and I have 3 contractors working on my house this week who have all agreed to accept sats. I’m working on getting my kids school set up with a small Bitcoin position as a donor advised fund and I just wrote a book that will only be sold for sats. My kids and wife are tired of me asking every time I pull out my credit card if I can pay in Bitcoin but I have no plans to stop.

I hear ya, but this kind of disagreement has happened before and it will happen again. It’s just how it goes.
