I think part of the problem is that fiat degeneracy has made having a family so expensive that people have to tell themselves that they're making a decision to not have children because they simply can't afford it.

It's easier to make excuses about how life is better without kids when you're simply unable to have a family due to the prohibitive costs.

I have sympathy for these people

People didn't used to have money, and they had a lot more kids. I don't buy in to this "can't afford" argument because for many it's a case of "I can't afford luxury if I have a kid".
