He is too young to understand the words, but still enjoys the tone/vibe of the stories.
In my opinion, there is no age too young or too old to read the Chronicles of Narnia
Have you ever read the CS Lewis space trilogy? Those are some brilliant and trippy books.

I had no idea he wrote a space trilogy!
So science fiction in space that is theistic in the way that the Chronicles of Narnia are. Awesome books.
