A lot of new bitcoiners on here. Before you start accumulating a bunch of sats, DO NOT STORE THEM ON WALLET OF SATOSHI. They are custodial meaning it’s not your bitcoin you do not have the private keys. At a minimum get a non custodial wallet on your mobile like Samourai for Android or Blockstream Green for iOS. Then next steps would be to get a signing device to pair with a solid wallet like Sparrow and run a node.

NOT YOUR KEYS 🔑 NOT YOUR CHEESE 🧀

Lots of knowledgeable and experienced bitcoiners on here that are happy to help noobs get set up properly.

Great note. Why can’t i zap you, you using WoS? 😂

😂 I am using it because it’s the only wallet that I can use LNURL for zaps ⚡️

It’s been working earlier probably network issue 🤷‍♂️

I think there will be new tutorials to new plebs having to face the migration from lightning andresses and custodial wallet solutions to self sovereignty bitcoin custodial solutions.

@btcsession are you there?

Move 90% of your sats to your node and use the remaining 10% to zap. WOS has the best UX at the moment

It’s best for zaps that’s it.

10% is wayyyyy to much if you’ve been in bitcoin more than a minute.

I am about 90% what you have in WOS not your bag 😆

Don’t worry about percentage, just don’t keep more in there than you would keep cash in your wallet.

Very unsecure app besides. Only store small amounts of Bitcoin in WoS.

There are currently no lightning wallets with good security AFAIK.

For a secure, non-lightning light mobile wallet I use Edge wallet. I just move small amounts of Bitcoin from my Edge wallet to WoS as needed.

Edge stores your keys in an encrypted file that is backed up to their servers. It can only be decrypted on your phone using your passphrase.

I wouldn’t trust my keys on someone else’s server.

It's just encrypted gibberish without the passphrase. Since there's no character limit on the passphrase you can use a 140 character long phrase. Unbreakable.

You could encrypt your private keys and publicly publish them on the Bitcoin blockchain in an ordinal and it wouldn't matter.

Never heard of Edge is it open source? How do you know there isn’t a back door?

It's not open source but it is technically non-custodial.

There was a security vulnerability recently back that they had to fix:

I prefer open source projects

Open source plus popular means most eyes on the code equals most secure.

If you’re ONLY using Lightning then at least send those sats to Phoenix Wallet which is a non custodial lightning wallet once you’ve accumulated a bit worth saving.

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLDING YOUR OWN KEYS

I was buying bitcoin at 2k usd, spending as needed and still in a lot of profit.

Wallet of Satoshi is happy with the speed of transactions, so it is logical to keep there the amount that you do not regret to lose or give away in zap

Yea WoS is for pocket change not savings
