Anyone have this similar issue?

I run Umbrel on a Raspberry Pi 4

I connect to my node through Blue Wallet.

When away from home and using Tor, sometimes my network just doesn’t connect. Is that normal?

Yes because Tor can be very slow, the implementation in Bluewallet is not that performant, a RPi4 is slow. All that combined makes it kind of unreliable and very slow

Hoping we make some major improvements in these areas in the coming years

Yeah, but I think the best improvements can be done by oneself already. For example: use old Laptop instead of RPi4, already much faster. Fulcrum instead of Electrs is also faster. And use clearnet instead of Tor, maybe with a VPN bridge to a VPS to preserve privacy, biggest improvement but also way more complicated to set up.

Happens to me all the time. Frankly, I gave up.

I barely keep any funds on Blue or hot wallets in general now. So at max a few hundred thousand sats won’t be connected to my node and that’s a tradeoff I’m willing to accept.

Fair enough. I use a Watch Only for my cold wallet stack with Blue Wallet. So mainly just want privacy for that.

Thought about doing that too. But then thought it could potentially be an opsec landmine.
