Hey nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m As a small business that uses Square for our fiat payments what are the issues stopping Square from offering lightning payments as a payment method especially considering cash app users can already scan a QR code at the terminal?

No technical limits. Just not sure it’ll be used in the markets we are in. Def would in central and South America and Africa, but we aren’t present there. So just prioritization.
There’s an argument to be made that building this would increase adoption, but I’m not seeing it yet based on other integrations.
No doubt it will be big over time. Just not yet. I think remittance is the number one use case for bitcoin right now, and that will grow other use cases including daily transactions.
Zaps is another use case which I believe will best grow the network. Far more than in person point of sale.
Tout à fait et il reste encore beaucoup à faire dans tant de tant de territoires laissés pour compte ...
Cool! Look forward to an easy integration when the time comes.
Remittance is a killer app for bitcoin but for it to saturate the mainstream it first requires an army of arbitrage traders in the local south who will trade it for cash, bank or mobile money, effectively acting ad off-ramps. The push to adopt bitcoin usually comes from the destination and then the source accommodates and tries to find onramps. We saw this clearly with Nigeria. The same

Mobil-zing the diaspora to flood the global south with bitcoin must be executed everywhere.
Furthermore, getting sufficient quantities of bitcoin into global south nations is hard. How do these nations pay for importing it when the barriers of financial apartheid keep money trapped?
Hacks are the way and our advantage is that the global south has billions of youth ready to work. Each hack be it gift cards or mobilizing the diaspora for remittance gets us closer. First we must make the global south fertile with bitcoin and then the fun starts.
What's your take on stablesats?
Sats + stablesats + integrated P2P ramps seems like the killer app. Don't need banks/circle/tether
It still can be a really effective marketing differentiation and boost for the local SMBs.
Would be cool to automatically integrate the ones enabling it on Square PoS with the BTCMap and such.
curious what the data discovery is on the businesses employing square and their ratings within the square model? does square run analytics on the integrity of those using their data and financial programs since their models and methods feed the square ecosystem? based on the local use of square, i wonder about how we as consumers trust the businesses using and capturing our data - not just square. there's a lot of bounty activity running around square's safeguards...... maybe the bounty hunters need some validator authentication done on them. it's only fair. and when they dislike it: it might adjust the lens of the "permissionless" discovery absolutists.
