I have some beginner questions about SDRs:

1) Do you need to connect an SDR to a computer?

2) Do you need special software on a computer to access the SDR? Or are they all web-based these days?

I'm looking at possibly getting this:

I’ve only ever run an SDR off a laptop. A Linux laptop. And I only used to to help with pointing a satellite dish in exactly the right spot (low SNR due to small dish and receiving hundreds of gigs of bitcoin blockchain data).

Yes, you will need to connect this to a computer.

Yes, you will need software on your computer to operate the device.
