Most of that money was spent to keep flying empty airplanes. Regulations stipulated that you had to have a certain number of flights a day to keep your spot at airports, so even though COVID meant no one was flying, airlines were just flying empty planes back and forth as if nothing happened, while not earning anything from passengers and just spending bailout money.

I've been flying exclusively Delta for the last 5 years and never had a problem. Googled which airline is most used by millionaires and that one popped up with "you have the highest chance of sitting next to a..." poll or study. Figured that's a good way to pick which to build loyalty status on 😅

Yeah, I used to be all Southwest, but when they were as pricey as the others i switched to Delta because they seemed to still be the better of the US brands. I had to fly American this time only because of availability. It’s like picking which torture method you want to use. They are all gonna suck, just which sucks the least.
