A long time ago I took my car in for an oil change, the service advisor came out with a worried, sad look and showed me my air filter and said it really needed to be replaced. It wasn't very dirty, but did have a bunch of bugs caught in it. I wacked it against my bumper a couple of times to knock out the bugs and handed it back to him saying, "It's fine. Put it back."

He was standing there in shock. I think he thought a young girl was an easy mark for an upsell.
