This is actually false perception of Japan and of Tokyo. In reality everything ordinary there is as cheap as in Romania. Not something, everything everywhere. In fact, many things cheaper and easier available. Don't know what is the trick with this specific dorm on the specific days.
And when you want something extraordinary, then sure, like anywhere in the world, sky is the limit.
