In a movie called A Late Quartet, Christopher Walken plays a conductor of a (college I think) class. I saw it 8 years ago. Anyway, one piece I still remember is a scene where his students are biting and arguing with each other about some musical theory whatnot, and the professor (Walken) encourages them to argue and debate: it is essential.
