Very unpopular opinion - when people say that something is because of the problem in education, it is rarely the true problem.

Yes, centralized education does not work. If someone wants to teach you something (top down) and it does not come from the student, the student will rarely learn something beyond the next test.

Self directed education is important.

But even this is rarely the answer. People are not doing stupid things because school did not teach them critical thinking.

And the correlation is backwards - rich societies have better education. But they became rich first. Their wealth is not the effect of the education, but the cause at best.

Tldr: If you think something in society will be fixed by better education, you are probably wrong.

Not sure why would this be an unpopular opinion?

Modern culture places more value on "bumper sticker" fixes then they are worth. But more often then not, problems and solutions are multifaceted and require a multifacitated solution.

The popular opinion is - people are stupid, education would fix that.

So what's the fix?
