The last 23 days have been a whirlwind…
As I prepare to head back home to tackle things at UCSF Memory & Aging Center for the 1st time in 12 years…I have a renewed sense of hope.
I planned 20 years ago to do everything I could to get this thing cured at all costs. But I never imagined I would live to see the day we started talking about the CURE for CJD as an active thing we’re doing.
AND I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN THE SAME WAY.
It’s been a lot to adjust to over the past 23 days… Turns out, even getting everything you ever wanted is…kinda weird.
There was NO chance of success here. I don’t even think we even know WHY prions misfold in brains to this day. Maybe it never mattered. The only thing that ever mattered to me was getting this thing done.
I’ve got a little studying to do before I go.
Curious about the weird world of medical research and clinical trials? And how this thing may cure the other things you probably have heard of, like Alzheimer’s and ALS?
I know this is a weird thing most people never have to deal with. But in keeping Nostr weird, I thought, if you’re interested, I may take you along on the journey. You down?
