I’m so old I can remember when commercial airline travel was enjoyable. I don’t mean the destination, but the actual going to the airport and flying.

Over the last 20 years, that experience has received death by a thousand cuts.

When I used to visit family in other cities alone … my parents dropped me at the gate … those were good times …

Same. Not it feels like Greyhound of the skies.

*now

Maybe I’m not old enough but I’m curious in what ways was it enjoyable?

It just wasn’t stressful. We usually dressed up and family members would come to the gate with you and wait until you took off. Or when you landed, friends/family were right there. The flight itself was usually nice too, visit with the pilot, pretty good food and you didn’t feel like cattle on a Greyhound bus.

Me too. I worked at an airport when I was younger and that was also fun. It’s sad what it has become.

Me to. 🙁 Nowadays it’s surveillance state just to get on a flying Greyhound bus.
