I think the standard procedure is to drown the insect with olive oil, or similar. (harmless to your ear). Probably a good idea to get a doctor to look in your ear and remove it if you think it might still be in there.

Yes. I read about vegetable oil after I was able to calm down and get over myself. It is very disorienting to have a creature wiggling around inside your ear. I have scheduled a doctor appt. despite no pain or other indication of the bug’s presence.

I had a moth in my ear as a child. One of the worst memories of my life!
