I've had falafels in Egypt, in several locations. Alex being one of them, I'm almost certain we had them there too. When we went to Egypt in 2010 as a family we stayed in the Mo'attum, in a neighborhood my grandmother had got an apartment in. Egypt was amazing. Literally blew my mind the entire time.

But dad had made a deal with this falafel guy and he'd ride his bike over, meet my dad at a certain time, and trade him a dozen or so falafels for however much he got.

We'd then eat them in varying quantities for breakfast and so on.

Once I snuck away to get my own falafel sandwich, and did end up scoring 2 large pitas for USD 3.50, a full and HUGE dinner. To this day I wonder if I ate something bad that night, too. lmao.
