So here's the thing you guys,

Izzy's a kickboxer, never has a stable base under him, always shifting his centre of gravity to pivot for kicks. Sean's a true boxer, always balanced on both legs, strong base, and doesn't cross his legs.

So Sean came in with a tight guard walking Izzy down and Izzy's doing his little feints... But unlike Costa, HE DIDN'T FLINCH! There's no threat if he has no base, and no space to loop kicks and punches.

Try to force action? Bop! Sean's straights will counter you all day.

Try to jab? You're throwing slow and wonky. No damage, low accuracy.

Try to lean away from punches? Sean's going to keep on stepping forward and clip you anyways. And he's not leaning into it so there's no room for pull counters.

Surprised Izzy didn't do push, side, oblique kicks to create some room for himself. Kept trying the overhand with the outside leg and Sean just blocked it or ate it.

Beautiful display of boxing fundamentals. It's so scary to fight like that, but you have to trust the fundamentals. If they don't have a good foundation, don't bother with their feints. Just throw your straight punches and push them over.

I still love Izzy, though hope they don't do an immediate rematch. Have a rest Champ. Fighting 3 times a year, Championship fights against killers. Gotta have a break.

Ngl and say I told you so, cause I honestly expected a repeat of Costa, but Sean did what I felt Costa should've. That fight goes the same way in a rematch.

Let Sean, Whittaker, Costa/ Khamzat, Cannonieri sort themselves out, then have Izzy come back for the strap.
