When Brainwashing Is Good For You!!

Drs. Rhonda Patrick and Jari Laukkanen describe the beneficial health effects of sauna use for waste removal of beta-amyloid.

Typically, sleep is associated as a mechanism for allowing the brain to remove toxins from the brain such as beta-amyloid — the protein associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Excerpt From Rhonda Patrick's Discussion On The Topic:

Rhonda: So you found that sauna use is associated with lower Alzheimer's disease and dementia? That is extremely interesting to me because, you know, of my interest in heat shock proteins and how they're activated via sauna use.

So when you heat-stress the body, what happens is that you activate a signaling pathway called heat shock proteins.

There's been many, many studies, associated studies looking at heat shock proteins and neurodegenerative diseases. So there is a lot of interest in how heat shock proteins may be a therapeutic target for preventing neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and also Parkinson's disease.

In the near future neurologists hope that detecting and removing amyloid before it has time to cause damage will provide a greater impact for patients. If the concept pans out, healthy adults in their late 50s or early 60s could routinely take blood tests or specialized brain scans that search for buildup of amyloid or tau, another aberrant protein.
