Politicians will say whatever makes them popular. So trusting them to make laws or having them decide on policies is just stupid. Let's stop it.

It’s a “representative democracy” and the people we elect to “represent” us lie about their very intentions and overplay their ability to even do those things, ~100% of the time
Maybe it is because only idiots would want to be in Congress, but we seem to elect the dumbest people who have zero idea how things work in the real world. They aren't just corrupt, but also totally incompetent.
