## How to get your first #bitcoin?

1. Do not sign up for any exchange or other service that asks for personal information and documents.

2. Actually don’t use bank transfers either.

3. Bitcoin ATMs are fine, but quite expensive.

4. Getting paid directly with bitcoin is perfect, but it took me about two years to talk someone into it.

## So what's the best way to do it?

Find a person who already has bitcoin and ask them to sell you some. I'm sure he can answer most of your questions and you'll learn a lot very quickly.

It can be someone who is mining, getting paid in bitcoin or simply early adopter who needs to eat.

Do it first with just a small amount through the Lightning Network - that means "no fees" in simple terms for you.

If your friend starts recommending something other than bitcoin, be very careful. And you'd better ditch it altogether.

If you don’t have anyone in your network have a look on nostr:npub1mftv2j67vayavkks8rqev3u8jjhefe86tf80msstfxvpunk9vmps6prkl3

That's a nice guide for newbies but I'm not sure how many of them are here on #nostr. We should get this instructions into mainstream social media.

nostr:note13jw5gvwzq0g5qst8ep428ed83n9rdlgdf6drdhwt6ns7ptnq09vsrsjzl3 Please help with spreading this instructions to more plebs even outside #nostr. They need to understand these basic fundaments and ways of doing things in #bitcoin.

When I was onboarding my friend through nostr:npub1fnr28zfw7u0zrh06g6nych4e85pfdwa2qa2qyq8qz62skhw7jjcqdkqcj8 he asked what can he do with it. He was confused, because in mainstream banking and fintech apps there are always many things to do, but in LN wallet you can only use 2 options/buttons - Send or Receive. So he asked how can change his sats back to fiat and certainly didn't expect me telling him how he can sell his sats to me for cash. It's just not common for normies to do things so P2P, they are pretty used to simple UX services.

I think we need to clear that noise and tell them where the signals are.

Yes, I think we are able to do a simple UX flow. However it woun’t be censorship resistant. If you need a bank account it will never be permissionless…

That's true but we need to teach them they won't need any bank account/custodian in the future. It's the easiest way but after that when they understand pros and cons they need to move into self-custody.

Ideally do everything without KYC but I don't know if you can use custodians like WoS or Bitlifi without "KYC" (it's nothing like scanning identity cards but they have your email, phone number...).

No. Get bitcoin whatever way you can. Then boat accident.

Less information you give to the enemy the better
