That's a much wider debate that applies to NOSTR relays and traditional social media and the world as a whole.

I'm choosing my battles carefully. For the moment at least, I'm not going down that ethical path.

But it is a valid point, the absolute immutability of the Bitcoin blockchain is also a concern with this path.

Immutability also has an interesting side effect. So let's stick to the cats. Let us now imagine that government of Ruretania bans posting cat pictures (they're dog people under their new president). That would invalidate the ledger

We'll deal with that later, right now I want to understand the OP_RETURN position.

Also, the scenario you theorise is already possible, which is an argument for not allowing cat pictures.

I'm not looking for more arguments to support the banning of cat pictures, I want to know why we want cat pictures.
