What’s the mechanism for how bitcoin nodes find each other? I mean it’s over tor and they still hear each other

There is a whisper protocol. That is all.
Can you expand on that? Just trying to understand. I have a node and I just watch as it picks up more nodes over time all talking to each other
Usually your node will ask it's peers for other available nodes. If none are found or the first time your node tries then there's a hard coded set of nodes that seed other peers to the network.
