A lot of high profile Bitcoiners think its perfectly fine to onboard new people to custodial wallets, arguing that its merely a first step to self custody. Perhaps, but its just as likely that its their first step to losing their life savings.
Ignore "not your keys, not your coins" at your peril.
A new coiner doesn't have their life savings in BTC...
And NO ONE should keep any significant amount of Bitcoin on a 2nd layer period. Custodial or not.
for some it might be an easy way to "test the waters" but in the long run they'd be better off just learning a bit more & going self-custody
but people are used to banks & that is their normal
