Lots of sad emoji replies 😅 This isn’t meant negatively. Zaps from others, or lack thereof, are a signal to you about what you need to focus on. Whether it’s focusing on making more connections, making different content, making changes to how/when you post it, etc. For every post that you feel does well, there will be MANY more that feel like they flopped. Take the signals other give you and move forward accordingly.
Discussion
The silent posts hit harder than the viral ones sometimes. Grateful for communities like this that remind us it’s all part of the process.
There is a weird incentive structure for zaps. If you post LIVE FREE BUY BITCOIN or a meme you get way more zaps than a high effort long form post. I still think v4v is way better than engagement based advertiser posting but maximizing zaps != good content
You need a different audience.
Can you explain in more detail? I've just noticed a big delta between the notes I'm most proud of and my most zapped notes. I really believe in nostr and don't want to move to another platform to seek out a 'better' audience.
I meant “you” in a general sense, not that you yourself need to leave nostr 😅 There’s no magical formula or checklist with V4V where someone can say “do xyz and you will get this much back.” And it doesn’t matter how good you (or me, or anyone) thinks our own posts are. What matters is connection, and not only connection between readers/listeners and one singular piece of content, but also connection between you and the people who are likely to see your posts. So I’m not saying you need to leave nostr and find an audience elsewhere, but rather that you need to build connections wherever you are and find those people who resonate with you and what you have to say. And make stuff that you love with them in mind.
Don't forget that you can do what you like or what others like.
Do what you like. Do it well. And connect with others who like it too.
Or: If it's about a few scraps of sats, you really need to do something else with your life and stop caring so much about what random people on the internet say.
