With advent of digital storage, we might want to presume information is stored forever. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Digital information is highly perishable. The average age of a corporate application is three to four years. This is particularly true in case of financial and health records where providers are forced to purge after max retention - normally seven years. The reason is simple - storage has a cost, and migration from one system to another is messy. One of the reason #Bitcoin is gaining momentum is it promises eternal immutability to information - like the physical books.

The global ledger is already reaching a terabyte of space ! Is it sustainable ? #askNostr

Vinyl records are the best long term cold storage method for data but the equipment for reading and writing is only configured for audio so far because the global deep state doesn't want information about this dark era in history being too permanent
