You're apparently forgetting the jihadist beliefs of the Mullahs. They think they are on a divine mission to make the world submit to Islam. Their track record of exporting terror around the world and their rhetoric does not evidence a defensive mindset.

The number one exporter of terror is Israel. Israel also happens to be the number one exporter of anti-Islam propaganda that Western media parrots unquestioningly.

Exporting values beyond the accepted borders by force, yes? To be sure, the Western oligarchies have more capacity to do that for now because of the immense investment in their fiat. But the intent and the tendency when the power is there is the same, I guess is what I'm going for.
